The Coneygear Centre

Project details

The Coneygear Centre in Huntingdon is a brand new community facility, located on the West side of Coneygear park.

Walker Graham Architects were appointed by Huntingdon Town Council to prepare feasibility proposals for the new community centre - to replace the existing Huntingdon Medway Centre. Huntingdon Town Council had explored the possibility of repairing and improving the existing Medway Centre. However, due to the site constraints, the condition of the building and the increased need for the community, a new building and site was agreed.

Following early discussions with the local planning authority, the building was designed to make use of modern materials and serve as a key marker for users of the park. The building was designed to have a low carbon use – by way of an airtight shell and heated using air source heat pumps.
